“I started this painting knowing that this piece of screen was going to be used
...somehow ...somewhere.
 
“I put that in the back of my mind and started drawing in shapes and delineations with my vine charcoal. When the painting seemed finished I added the screen - and a door handle on the right side.
 
“My title came from the question, ‘Are you coming in - or going out?’ ”
